RECAP

The Hawks drove down to the 8-yard line in the 2nd quarter, but were unable to score. Some trick plays were attempted, where Nile Kinnick would basketball-pass the ball over the line of scrimmage, but the attempts were not very successful. The Huskies scored on two TD passes (47 yards and 10 yards), and held the Hawks to 127 yards of offsense. They also used two complete teams as units at times during the game, to give their reserves some playing time during a close ballgame.

Iowa end Homer Harris was the first Black football team captain in the Big Ten, and enjoyed a homecoming against Washington, as he grew up in Seattle. He chose to attend Iowa over Washington due to issues with racial attitudes towards Black athletes. There is also a park named after him in Seattle based on his life accomplishments.

The Daily Iowan article headlines are confusing. "Hawkeyes Hold Washington 14-0" and "Stubborn Hawkeye Gridders Hold Huskies to 14-0 Win" and "Surprisingly powerful Iowa Eleven Outplays Washington Rivals in Intersectional Battle," but Iowa did lose the game.
