The 3 freshman excelled in the win over the Huskies. Todd Berkenpas hit eight of nine attempts from the field for 16 points, Michael Payne added 13 points and 10 rebounds (despite foul trouble) and Greg Stokes added 8 points. Veterans Kevin Boyle added 12 points and Bobby Hansen grabbed 10 rebounds.

The Hawks held a slim 4-point lead at halftime, but were finally able to build a 10-point lead early in the 2nd half, and never let the Huskies get much closer.
